Plas Penucha has been in the same family for many years and our guests are able to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the large house and gardens which combine a sense of graceful elegance with the genuine welcome of a family home. The oldest sections of the house date back to the mid fifteenth century and various additions over the centuries have seen it grow into a splendid country home full of character and charm. The gardens, including the formal rock garden, were laid out at the turn of the last century at the same time as the last major additions to the house were made and the rolling hills beyond create a stunning backdrop.
The dining room and lounge are both situated in the oldest part of the house – the one room built over an old spring and the other with Elizabethan panelling and both of them enjoy sublime views over the gardens and onto the distant hills. Colour TV and radio are provided (or, alternatively, those with a need to relax….and plenty of patience….may choose to avail themselves of a large range of jigsaws!).
Four bedrooms are available for guests –
1 double room en suite.
1 twin room en suite (shower in the room).
1 double room and 1 twin room which have hand basins and shaver points, with separate bath/shower and toilet facilities. All rooms have tea and coffee-making facilities.
Drying facilities are also available for walkers and ramblers. We are open throughout the year, with central heating and log fires out of season. Our guests are provided with either a British or Continental breakfast and for those who are touring or walking in the area, we can also provide packed lunches. Evening meals can be provided by prior arrangement. Our more athletic guests may wish to avail themselves of the many excellent sporting facilities available locally. These include swimming, horse riding, golf, walking (Offa’s Dyke is close) and various pursuits on or around the Brenig Reservoir.
As non-smokers ourselves, we should prefer guests who are also non-smokers.
There is ample car parking space for all our guests.
